Ah, the Emerald Coast. I absolutely love to visit the Gulf of Mexico. A lot of Alabamians enjoy Gulf Shores, Destin or 30A in the heat of the summer, but few people remember that the beach is so close to us when it's cold outside. The truth is: I enjoy the beach, rain or shine, no matter what season it is. On this particular trip the temperature was a nice 64 degrees Fahrenheit, and the wind was blowing hard. Really hard.
What made this particular trip fun was that it was just for the day. My friend, Katie, and I just wanted to get away for a bit. So we did just that. We left at 5:30am, headed south, and by mid morning we were starring out over the ocean. It was a perfect day.
